We make worlds worth digging into

One game at a time, and we play it ourselves. The first one is Worm: a sandbox whose world lives on a server — the clock, the weather and the water keep running while nobody is online.

WORM

Dig, craft, build — in a world that keeps running on the server while you are away.

Windows · Godot 4 · v0.5.6

02in the works

Game 02

In the works. We will show it when there is something to play.

How we work

Three rules

01

We play what we build

Every build is checked inside the game, not on a task list. If it is not fun to play for an evening, it does not ship.

02

The world does not switch off

The clock, the weather and the water run on the server. You come back a day later and the rain you left behind has moved on without you.

03

One game at a time

No second project until the first one is finished. Worm gets every evening we have.

What is new

The studio has a website

tapok.cc is open: the games, what is inside them and a live board showing what is happening on the Worm servers right now — how many players are in a world, what time it is there and whether it is raining.

WORM

Worm 0.5.6: chat, console and bedrock

Blocks now read at a glance: whole, cracked and background are three different brightnesses instead of one confusing pair. The bottom twenty rows of every world are bedrock — nothing digs through them, so the world finally has a floor.

WORM

Worm became a real program

Until now the game lived in a browser. It has been rewritten on Godot 4 and now ships as a Windows application: its own physics, its own inventory, its own drawing of the world — and the same server, the same worlds, the same accounts.

What is inside

Built from scratch

Godot 4 · GDScript

The game is native Windows, not a browser page: its own physics, its own inventory, its own rendering of the world.

Our own server

Node on a machine in Kyiv holds the worlds, the accounts and the clock. Private worlds are created by a code and fade 45 seconds after the host leaves.

One generator, two places

The world is generated by the same rules on the server and inside the game — a seed gives the identical world in both, checked number by number.

Four languages

English, Ukrainian, Russian and German — in the game and on this page.
